CH. Talbot Hill’s Opus Too, “Michael”, was just four months old when I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  He was one of the nicest puppies that I had bred and I was excited to have this stunning young prospect in my backyard, but…I knew that I wouldn’t be able to do him justice.  Michael went to Teresa Gaier at Copper Rose beagles where he sired 13″ littermates BISS CH. Copper Rose Myles of Smiles and CH. Copper Rose Murph the Smurf.

Michael is now owned by Bill Nieland.

Welcome to the new web home for Talbot Hill Beagles.  I recently closed the web site that I had had for nearly a decade and, with it, closed my old e-mail address, “carrie@talbothill….”.  I can now be reached at talbothill@gmail.com.

I plan to create a new web site in the future but, for now, this site will have to serve the purpose.

Life has presented me with many challenges in recent years and I’ve had to pause…take a break from breeding beagles…while I “put my own nose to the ground” and move forward.  Beagles remain my passion but for now I have no immediate plans for litters.  Herbie, multiple BIS/BISS CH. Talbot Hill Thyme After Time, is available at stud to approved bitches but, with no bitches at home, there are no plans for puppies in 2011.

There is much that I have not yet had time to share here but, as always, I am happy to answer any questions about my dogs or my breeding program.  Please feel free to e-mail me at the e-mail address above if you have any questions about my dogs.  Since I have no immediate plans for puppies, I would direct all inquiries to the following link:  American Breeders.

Sophie holds a very special place in my heart.  I have often described her as having enough personality for twelve beagles and it was that personality (and a kiss on the judge’s nose during examination!) that won her the Puppy Hound group in Palm Springs several years ago…at exactly six months of age, her first day in the show ring.  She gave me three litters and several champions including multiple BIS/BISS CH. Talbot Hill’s Thyme After Time.

Rosie was the very first puppy, in my very first litter….and my first homebred champion.  Rosie gave me two litters.  The first, by BIS CH. Beowulf Ransomcreek Hide In Plain Sight, produced four champions including CH. Talbot Hill’s Secret Garden, dam of multiple BIS/BISS CH. Talbot Hill’s Thyme After Time.  From the second litter, by CH. Perkys Winter Storm, I kept CH. Talbot Hill’s Opus One, a red & white bitch who finished with back-to-back five point majors.  Maya is the dam of CH. Talbot Hill’s Opus Too who is, himself, the sire of 13″ BISS CH. Copper Rose Myles of Smiles.

Co-owned and co-bred with Alyce Gilmore (Bayou Oaks Beagles), “Bayeux” (pronounced “Bayou” and named for the famous Bayeux Tapestry in Normandy) is a delightful addition to my kennel.  Her happy, easy-going temperament and lovely head never fail to bring a smile.

Velma was the 13″ Best of Winners at the 2006 National Beagle Club Specialty in Valparaiso, IN at seven months of age.  Velma is the dam of CH. Talbot Hill’s Twist of Lemon and CH. Talbot Hill’s Lemon Sorbet.  She is now owned by MG Beagles in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Grace was the 13″ Best of Winners and Best Bred by Exhibitor at the 2005 National Beagle Club Specialty in Tuscon, AZ at just seven months of age.  She was co-owned and co-bred with dear friends, Terri Giannetti and Ted Swedalla of Beowulf Kennel in New York and is now loved by the Hren family of Maple Valley, Washington.  Grace, now known as “Cora”, is the dam of CH. Talbot Hill Beowulf Ciao Bella, “Prada”.

A bitch with beautiful, fluid movement, Ava gave me her first litter, sired by Am/Can CH. Gold Line’s Global Dark Horse (imp. Denmark) in July 2009.  I look forward to showing her daughter, “Tove”, Talbot Hill Illumination, in 2010.
