Looking Ahead Into 2024

2024 promises to be an interesting year at Talbot Hill. We’ve started off the year with a successful weekend at the Western Washington Winter Cluster in Puyallup last weekend. On Saturday, Albus became a champion while sharing the ring with two of his sons from his most recent litter. The following day, Albus’ daughter, Poppy, earned an NOHS G4 under breeder-judge, Linda Clark, and on Monday, his daughter, Lily, was BOW while son, Linus, was WD, just a few single points away from his championship.

Next up will be a trip to the Midwest in February to bring home a puppy from a litter co-bred with Robin Wescher (Maple Ridge Beagles). The plans for this litter began at the 2022 Nationals when Robin and I realized that we had an opportunity to work together on a litter that would help us both move forward with our breeding programs. Robin is the breeder of 2017 NBC National Specialty Best of Breed winner MBIS/MBISS CH Maple Ridge Northern Lights, “Anakin”, now living in Sweden with Madeleine Back. My 13″ bitch, “Hanne”, CH Talbot Hill Dukeang Thyme Signature, is the daughter of 2010 NBC National Specialty Select Dog and 2008 #2 15″ Beagle, MBIS/MBISS CH Talbot Hill’s Thyme After Time, “Herbie”. Both sire and dam are proven producers and their pedigrees suggested great promise for what they might produce. We have not been disappointed. Robin and I will co-own all breeding stock with pick female staying with Robin; I will be bringing home a male. More news to come when our new addition comes home to Seattle.

I’ve been receiving puppy inquiries from existing Talbot Hill families and from families hoping to add the first Talbot Hill puppy to their family in 2024. While I expect to have at least one litter, perhaps two, in 2024, my plans continue to evolve as new opportunities emerge and the timing of the girls becomes more clear. I’m working on a puppy application for the 2024 Waiting List and I expect to post it on my web site by the end of January. Please watch the Puppies page of the web site, this blog, and the Talbot Hill Facebook group for updates.
